Army Does Work

This was a big game coming in for both teams. The Army Black Nights looked for a big road win against Patriot League rival the Colgate Raiders. Both teams came in to the game sitting in the middle of league play and was a critical win for both sides. Coming into the game The Raiders were sitting undefeated  Patriot League and the Black Nights  were sitting right behind them at (1-1).  With the season winding down each league win is critical in order to get into the post season.

The story of the game was freshmen goalkeeper Sam Somers who racked up 13 saves on the day. The Black Nights looked dominating on both sides of the ball. Racking up ten goals on the day with onely allowing 4 (final score 10-4). The Knights made a statement early and controlled the tempo of the game. They scored the first five goals of the game almost holding the Raiders scoreless into half time. The Raiders finally scored with 3:00 minutes left in the half but, could not break the daunting lead of Army.

The upsetting news for Colegate (besides the loss) was the Tewaaraton Award winner Peter Baum did not score. This breaks his 21 game streak with at least one goal. The  record held since his sophomore year. The Raiders need to pick their heads up because they have a trip to Lehigh College next week. The Army Black nights will face top ranked Bucknell next week.
